Reshaping informed advocacy in Pakistan
At Obun2, we are engaged in diverse initiatives that align with our commitment to advancing human rights, building capacity, and promoting sustainable development.
State of Children in Pakistan
The State of Children in Pakistan portal is a comprehensive resource on the rights of children in Pakistan. It was officially launched on 12 June 2024. Co-funded by Terre des Hommes (TDH) and Obun2, this initiative is implemented by Obun2 for the National Commission on the Rights of the Child (NCRC). The NCRC is an independent statutory body established by the Government of Pakistan to promote, protect and fulfil the rights of children across the country. The portal serves as a centralised platform for policy makers, researchers and stakeholders to access data and insights on child rights and child protection. The platform also contributes to evidence-based, informed policy making for the protection and promotion of children's rights in Pakistan.
SOHRIS
State of Human Rights in Sindh
Launched on 9 December 2023, Sohris is a dedicated portal for monitoring and reporting on the state of human rights in Sindh. Initially seed-funded by the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), it is now funded and implemented by Obun2 for the SHRC. Sohris serves as a vital tool for tracking human rights trends in Sindh, supporting advocacy, and informing policy decisions in Sindh. The SHRC is a statutory body established under the Sindh Protection of Human Rights Act, 2011, dedicated to promoting, protecting, and monitoring human rights across Sindh.
Capacitating Human Rights Defenders in Sindh
In collaboration with the SHRC and with financial support from TDH, Obun2 is implementing a project to strengthen the capacity of human rights defenders, particularly in the underdeveloped regions of Sindh. The project focuses on capacity building of human rights defenders, judiciary, police and civil society as well as developing institutional linkages to effectively address human rights violations through human rights mechanisms.
Addressing Bonded and Child Domestic Labour in Sindh
Legal and Institutional Reforms
Obun2, in partnership with the Solidarity Center USA and in collaboration with the SHRC, is implementing a project to strengthen advocacy efforts for legislative and policy reforms addressing bonded labour and child labour in Sindh.
