Obun2 and SHRC Launched SOHRIS
On 9 December 2023, to mark International Human Rights Day, the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), in collaboration with Obun2, officially launched Sohris.com, the first-ever digital platform dedicated to human rights in Sindh.
Mr. Qindeel Shujaat, Executive Director of Obun2, introduced the platform during the launch event. He emphasised the critical importance of robust information management systems in building rights-based awareness and accountability. As the portal was displayed to attendees, he underscored that Sohris.com combines laws, policies, research reports, publications, case law, and institutional information—both national and international—into a single, user-friendly repository .
Key Features of Sohris.com
- Comprehensive Information Hub: Includes content on civil and political rights, socioeconomic and cultural rights, and the rights of vulnerable and marginalised groups in Sindh—such as children, women, minorities, labourers, persons with disabilities, refugees, older persons, and transgender individuals
- Legal & Policy Databases: Covers the Constitution of Pakistan, Sindh and national laws, policy frameworks, UN core treaties, and ILO conventions, along with compliance status and implementation gaps
- Institutional Profiles & Helplines: Maps key Sindh government institutions, UN and civil society organisations, and available helpline services.
- Knowledge Base: Hosts the SHRC annual reports, bi‑annual newsletters, research papers, perspective articles, and videos on thematic issues
- Interactive Interface: Designed for easy navigation, Sohris allows users—policymakers, researchers, legal professionals, students, and the public—to explore rights content in an accessible and searchable format.
The portal is positioned not just as an information resource but as a tool for empowering informed citizenship and strengthening legal literacy across Sindh.
Through the launch of Sohris.com, Obun2 and SHRC have together created a transformative platform to support human rights advocacy, education, research, and systemic accountability in Sindh.
